Bay Area Hospital offers a carefully designed benefits package to help meet the needs of our talented team of professionals. We are committed to offering a generous benefits package to employees who work at least 20 hours per week. Employees who work less than 20 hours per week receive a 20 percent pay differential.
Bay Area Hospital is a self-insured plan. You have your choice of the provider you wish to see.
Prescription drug benefits are provided through Express Scripts.
Bay Area Hospital offers a dental plan in which you may access services through any licensed dental office.
Vision benefits are covered for exams, lenses and frames. This is a 24-month plan.
A health reimbursement account (HRA) provides you, the employee, with a specific amount of money each year to help pay for healthcare expenses not covered under the health plan. The benefit amount will roll over from year to year and can be used to help pay for healthcare expenses such as deductibles and co-pays.
401(a) Defined Contribution Plan Bay Area Hospital contributes 4 percent annually to a 401(a) Defined Contribution Plan on the employee’s behalf. The employee is 100 percent vested in the 401(a) plan after five years of service and working 1,000 hours each of those years. The hospital also matches 50 cents for every dollar up to the first 4 percent of compensation that the employee contributes to a 403(b) tax sheltered account. Bay Area Hospital provides the 403(b) tax sheltered account as an additional vehicle to save and plan for retirement. The hospital’s match to the Defined Contribution plan is based on the amount the employee contributes to his or her 403(b).
Bay Area Hospital provides a term life insurance benefit to employees at no cost. The benefit is based on your gross monthly income and ranges from $14,000 to $35,000 for basic life and another $14,000 to $35,000 for accidental death and dismemberment.
Short-term disability benefits provide 70 percent of earnings up to $200 per week. Maximum benefit coverage is 25 weeks. Long-term disability begins on the 26th week of disability. Payment is 60 percent of pre-disability basic monthly earnings not to exceed a maximum monthly benefit of $5,000.
Paid time off (PTO) can be used for vacation, illness, personal time off, family emergencies and holidays. Bay Area Hospital offers employees a very generous PTO accrual.
Through flexible spending accounts, employees may set aside a portion of their wages on a pretax basis, subject to certain limits, to cover dependent care expenses (day care, elder care, etc.) or qualified healthcare expenses (co-pays, deductibles, etc.) not covered by insurance.
Bay Area Hospital offers a tuition reimbursement program to promote employees’ professional growth and development. After one year of employment at Bay Area Hospital, benefited employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement of $1,000 per year. Educational loan forgiveness programs and professional development may be available for select positions.
Discounts When employees use the hospital for any services (inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic, laboratory, etc.) a 50 percent discount is given, after the employee deductible has been met and all insurance payments have been made. We also offer a 20 percent discount in our hospital cafeteria. AFLAC Bay Area Hospital offers additional voluntary benefits through AFLAC at a discounted group rate. These plans are administered through an outside vendor. Identity theft protection Identity theft restoration services are offered as a benefit to employees who have fallen victim to ID theft. This recovery service provides an advocate who will restore your identity to pre-theft status. Cell phone discounts AT&T and Verizon both offer 15 percent off cell phone service to Bay Area Hospital employees. Health club membership Payroll deduction is offered for select local athletic clubs.
