Bay Area Hospital, North Bend Medical Center (NBMC), Bay Clinic and the Oregon Heart & Vascular Institute (OHVI) at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center have announced plans to collaborate in the development and support of a Coos Bay/North Bend-based interventional cardiology program, Bay Area Cardiology Network, to serve the Southern Oregon Coast. The program will involve clinical cardiology practice based at NBMC and also at Bay Clinic, hospital-based and interventional services at Bay Area Hospital, electrophysiology, a cardiac catheterization lab and development of a comprehensive cardiac care program. Bay Area Hospital is pleased to welcome Sam Patterson as their new Chief Financial Officer. Sam joins BAH after a long career in finance with healthcare facilities in both Arizona and Las Vegas. Most recently Sam was the Chief Financial Officer/Chief Compliance Officer with Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, Ariz. Sam and his wife are excited to relocate to the South Coast to be closer to family in St. Helens and to enjoy the beautiful beaches. They have two daughters who reside in Phoenix. Read More
Did you know that diabetes is a MAJOR health problem in our area? The percentage of adult Oregonians with diagnosed diabetes has increased significantly in the past decade. An estimated 178,000 adult Oregonians have been diagnosed and another 64,800 have the disease but don’t know it. We are seeing an increase in obesity in both our youth and adults, which is a major contributor to the disease. Read More
