Our Experience

In 2011, the Joint and Spine Care Center performed 1,102 orthopaedic surgeries, representing 28 percent — the highest volume — of all surgery categories performed at Bay Area Hospital that year. They included:  

• Total hip replacements: More than 133
• Total knee replacements: 347
• Spinal procedures: 165

With the aging of the baby boomer population, the hospital anticipates an even greater demand for its orthopaedic services in the future. That’s why we’re offering more pre-surgery classes for patients, why we’re continuing to invest in cutting-edge technology, why we’ve formed a Joint and Spine Team, why we’ve hired an Orthopaedic Care Coordinator and why we’re actively pursuing certification of both our hip and knee replacement programs from the Joint Commission.
