All About Labor
Anatomy of labor, the stages of labor & an overview of fetal
monitoring will be provided in this class. Common
interventions & what to expect at delivery will also be
discussed. Instruction on the immediate postpartum
recovery period is also offered.
Big Brother/Big Sister Class
Brothers & sisters-to-be, ages 3 to 10, learn about their new sibling, practice holding & diapering baby dolls & watch a short video during this fun, fast-paced class.
Information will be provided on basic breastfeeding
techniques, how your body makes milk & how your milk
helps your baby to grow and be healthy. Expression and proper storage of breast milk is covered. We are happy to answer your breastfeeding questions. For expectant moms & their support person.
Comfort Measures for Labor
Focus is hands-on comfort measures/ breathing techniques, water therapy, massage & comfort positioning. Also includes an overview of medications used to control pain.
Infant Safety and CPR
How to keep your baby – from newborn to one year of age – safe in a variety of situations. Learn about car seat safety, child proofing your home, avoiding germs, immunizations, pets and sibling concerns, and infant CPR. Class is open to expectant parents and their adult family members. This is not a CPR certifying course.
Labor Epidural Class
Talk with a Labor & Delivery RN about epidurals during labor. Learn when, why and how an epidural may be used. Get the answers to your questions about this popular pain relief technique.
Newborn Care Basics
All the basics of baby care will be presented by our experienced Nursery RNs. You will learn many useful tips on skin care, bathing, diapering, and methods to calm crying babies. Childhood immunizations and screening tests are also discussed.
One Day Child Birth Education
Comprehensive information on the stages of labor, comfort measures for labor, birth, and the postpartum recovery period. You will have the opportunity to tour the Labor & Delivery area and participate in simulated labor. Wear comfortable clothing and bring pillows to class.
If you are an expectant parent or have a baby up to the age of 1 year, this 2-part class can help you adjust to parenthood by providing practical tips and emotional support. Topics include how to recognize the signs of being overwhelmed, how to ask for help, how to get the rest you need, the impact your baby may have on your relationship with others in your family, and goal setting/ planning for the future.
