CRITICAL CARE

Critical Care is the highly concentrated individual care a patient needs when acutely ill.

The Critical Care Unit is designed to provide constant care and direct observation by our specially trained staff. The staff is fully trained in the use of sophisticated monitoring equipment that helps them give every patient knowledgeable and professional care.

Due to the intensive nature of Critical Care, visiting is adjusted to the needs of the patient and may be kept to a minimum. This is to ensure that the patient receives adequate rest and the staff provides the necessary patient care.

A patient's move out of Critical Care is a sign that their physical condition has stabilized and their physician has determined that highly intensive care is no longer needed. Our team in the medical, surgical, and intermediate units will continue to work closely with the physician, patient, and family to coordinate the ongoing plan of care.

Bay Area Hospital is committed to providing the patient, family, and loved ones the consideration and emotional support they need.
